Once upon
a Torontonian time
After a month away in Kenya, Arwah returned to the 6ix, only to be swept into a spontaneous outing by Jubril. He played it cool, but little did he know, she’d already been secretly counting down the days.
Jubril earned brownie points - taking her to one of her favourite libraries for coffee & introducing her to a new masjid. But his coffee order?
A chocolate-flavoured latte with mint 😩
Almost as ostentatious as chocolate oranges!
[Un]lucky for Arwah, she had a three-hour detour home - subway to Uber to train to car - leaving plenty of time to ponder upon one burning question:
Could she really trust a man who willingly drinks chocolate mint 🤔
Turns out… she could. Because behind that questionable latte was a heart anchored in God & a dimpled smile that quietly, confidently, made its case.
Their story unfolded like a slow burn & in true fairytale fashion, summer began wandering through Dundas beneath the sweltering sun.
Welcomed by the street’s bohemian beats, every few steps greeted them with the scent of sizzling cuisines - Thai, Mexican, Italian, Jamaican - accented by bursts of tropical fruit, fresh coconut & sugarcane dancing through the air.
Between coffee, curiosity & constant du’a
love began its rise, steady & true, like the sun’s ascent from the east,
painting blush cotton candied skies for all who witnessed.
And by each evening’s descent in the west,
mercy wrapped the horizon; praying, promising,
fī dunyā wal akhirah
in this world & the Next.
